WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR

This 8-day, 7-night wildlife photography journey takes you through the diverse landscapes and rich ecosystems of Sandakan, Tabin, and the Kinabatangan River. Begin with visits to Labuk Bay and the Rainforest Discovery Centre, where you’ll capture rare wildlife during a night walk. Continue to Selingan Island for turtle encounters and hatchling experiences, before heading into the heart of Tabin Wildlife Reserve. Spend two full days exploring its lush rainforest with birdwatching, treks to waterfalls, and dusk drives in search of nocturnal creatures.

Your adventure continues along the Kinabatangan River, famous for its unique wildlife. Cruise the river at dawn, dusk, and night to spot elephants, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and crocodiles. Guided jungle walks offer close-up encounters with the flora and fauna of Borneo. The tour concludes with meaningful visits to the Borneo Sun Bear Conservation Centre and the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, making this itinerary a perfect blend of photography, conservation, and unforgettable wildlife experiences.

Tour Plan

Day 1 – Welcome to Sandakan, Home of Wildlife

1325pm : Estimated arrive at Sandakan Airport.
1500pm : Meet and welcome greet by our tour guide. Heading to Sandakan town for lunch break.
1530pm : After lunch heading to Labuk Bay.
1630pm : Estimate arrive Labuk Bay.
1730pm : Depart from Labuk Bay to Rainforest Discovery Centre, registration for night walk.
1830pm : Started for the night walk activity.
2000pm : Estimated end of night walk activity, transfer to Resort for dinner.
2100pm : Rest.

Day 2 – Let’s Meet the Turtle

0700am : Breakfast at Resort.
0800am : Check out resort and transferring to Sabah Park Jetty.
0900am : Arrive at Sabah Park Jetty, register.
0930am : Depart from Sabah Park Jetty heading to Pulau Selingan (estimate 1 hour 15 minutes boat ride).
1100am : Arrive at Selingan Island, meet Sabah Park short briefing of rules & regulation, check in room.
1200pm : Lunch.
1400pm : Free & Easy.
1900pm : Hall presentation (Learn and get more info about turtle).
1930pm : Dinner.
2000pm : Rest and get notice from ranger anytime for looking turtle hatchling.

Day 3 – Heading to Tabin

0630am : Check out room and return the room key.
0700am : Depart from Selingan Island, heading back to Sandakan Jetty.
0800am : Arrive at Sandakan Jetty to meet our driver. Stop by for short breakfast first.
0900am : Depart Sandakan heading to Tabin Wildlife Reservation (Around 4–5 hrs ride).
1330pm : Arrive at Tabin, lunch is served and check in room.
1500pm : Free & easy or trekking nearby trails.
1800pm : Dinner.
1900pm : Night safari.
2000pm : Back to Resort & Rest.

Day 4 & Day 5 – Second & Third Day at Tabin

0600am : Early Morning Bird Walk – Discover Tabin’s rich birdlife (almost 300 species).
0730am : Breakfast at the resort.
0830am : Drive to Core Area – Scenic ride into the heart of Tabin.
0900am : Birdwatching Tower – Short climb and birding session.
0930am : Trek to Lipad Waterfall – Refreshing shower or explore surrounding vegetation.
1130am : Stop at Tabin Giant Tree – Photo opportunity.
1230pm : Lunch and rest at the resort.
1400pm : Free time – Optional activities or leisure at the resort.
1730pm : Dusk Drive – Spot nocturnal wildlife and birds.
1900pm : Dinner at the resort.
2000pm : Night Walk – Search for sleeping birds, frogs, and nocturnal wildlife.
2100pm : Rest.

Day 6 – Kinabatangan River

0730am : Breakfast at resort.
0830am : Check out and heading to Kinabatangan River (4–5 hrs).
1230pm : Arrive at Sandakan area, lunch.
1330pm : Continue to Sukau Greenview Lodge.
1430pm : Arrive and check in.
1630pm : Evening cruise.
1800pm : Dinner.
1930pm : Night cruise (depend on weather).
2030pm : Back to resort & rest.

Day 7 – Explore Kinabatangan

0630am : Morning cruise.
0730am : Breakfast.
0930am : Private jungle walk (1 hour).
1030am : Finish jungle walk, back to room & rest.
1230pm : Lunch.
1400pm : Elephant cruise.
1800pm : Dinner.
1900pm : Night cruise or night walk (depend on weather).
2000pm : Back to resort & rest.

Day 8 – Sandakan & Departure

0700am : Breakfast & check out.
0800am : Depart from Sukau Green View Lodge, heading to Borneo Conservation Centre.
0900am : Visit Borneo Sunbear Conservation Centre.
1000am : Visit Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre.
1100am : Lunch.
1200pm : Arrive Sandakan Airport. End of tours.
